Music Ministry

Choir: Music at the Traditional Service

The Christian faith is a singing faith. Scripture repeatedly reminds God's people to "Sing to the Lord." Songs may fill the heart of an individual child of God, or may unite whole congregations in praise. Music has a three-fold purpose at Satellite Beach United Methodist Church. First, it is an essential part of corporate worship. Singing in worship is closely related to prayer as we see recorded in the Psalms. In worship, we have both spoken and sung prayers.

Second, singing plays a key role in Christian discipleship. Singing the truths of Scripture plants those truths deeply in our hearts and minds, even as Paul teaches in Colossians 3:16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing Psalms and hymns, and spiritual song with thankfulness in your hearts to God."

Third, music and song are useful for ministry. Music ministers to young and old, men and women alike. Song adapts to any context: it celebrates a wedding, comforts at a funeral, ministers to the shut-in, and proclaims the Gospel to the world.

Choir

Chancel Choir is the adult choir of Satellite Beach United Methodist Church. It is a non-auditioned choir consisting of high school, young adult and older members. The Chancel Choir sings during the 11:00 worship service on Sundays. The heart of this choir is to lead God's people in weekly worship.

Here's How to Join the Choir

Those interested in becoming a member of the choir are encouraged to visit several rehearsals. By doing so, one can have a better understanding of the ministry. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 6:00 - 8:00 pm, in the choir room, from July - May each year.
